Xhun Audio and Mac OSX
[ Update: The development of a Cross-platform version for all products has started. More infos will follow soon. ]
Xhun Audio Products are Native VST plugins for Microsoft's Windows OS. This means that they are suitably designed to work in this specific environment¹.
By the way, Xhun Audio plugins can also be used on Intel Mac OSX systems - with proven stability - following a few (easy) steps:
- Create virtual MIDI Ports on Mac OSX
- Create virtual Audio Ports on Mac OSX installing Soundflower (free)
- Install VFX for OSX (free) and configure your Sequencer (eg. Logic)
This will let you make professional use (eg. play/record into your favourite Sequencer with full Audio/MIDI connectivity) of Xhun Audio
plugins (native Windows) on OSX as if they were external hardware
Synthesizers/Devices - with no
additional costs, cables or intricate configurations.

HOW IT WORKS
|
|
Create virtual MIDI Ports on Mac OSX
In Finder, click on Go | Utilities and select the Audio MIDI Setup application.
Make sure the MIDI Devices tab on top of the Audio MIDI Setup window is selected.
Double click on the IAC Driver icon, the IAC Driver Properties window will open.
Now create a port by clicking on the '+' button, and name it for example "v_MIDI".
The new IAC Driver "v_MIDI" is now installed.
Create virtual Audio Ports on Mac OSX installing Soundflower by Cycling'74
http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/
Soundflower is a free, open-source Mac OS X (10.2 and later) system extension that allows applications to pass audio to other applications.
After installation, Soundflower presents itself as one of two audio devices (2ch / 16ch). The 2-channel device is sufficient for most situations.
To send the output of one application to another, select Soundflower as the output device in the first application and Soundflower as the input device within the second application.
If you are hearing clicks or breakups, try increasing the buffer size of both applications (set within each application).

Once the installation is complete, return to the VFX application and
from Menu select [File] -> [Import VST Plugin], choose the proper
[ .dll ] (VST plugin) file to import, select [Don’t use a Wizard File]
and finally click on the [Import] button.
To start playing, right click on the Rack slot (yellow arrow) and select/load the installed Xhun Audio Product.
VFX and Sequencer configuration
Open VFX software and set (right click on the on the 'V-Machine' logo and select 'Options') :
- MIDI IN -> IAC Driver "v_MIDI" (will receive MIDI data from Sequencer)
- AUDIO OUT -> Soundflower virtual Audio device (will send Audio data to Sequencer)
Open your Sequencer (eg. Logic), and set :
- MIDI IN -> your hardware MIDI input port (eg. input from your Master Keyboard)
- MIDI OUT -> IAC Driver "v_MIDI" (will send MIDI data to VFX)
- AUDIO IN -> Soundflower virtual Audio device (will receive Audio data from VFX)
- AUDIO OUT -> Your main/favourite hardware Audio output
To avoid duplation of incoming notes in your Sequencer,

routed into it.
